How fun are we? Last weekend we had a picnic. Yes, a picnic. I made sandwiches and packed the ice chest and some chips. We went to Mitch park and had our yummy little supper. I could tell that Z was kind of weary of the idea at first "What? No BW3's??!!?". But he snapped out of it once he saw that G was enjoying it. Supper was great and was only interrupted by 1 minor poop incident, but I still consider it a success. After we ate we took G over to play on the awesome playground. He had a blast and L was loving being carried around in her sling. I didn't realize she would like it so much. I'll definitely be using it more often.

Just a few highlights for this last week:

G placed his first phone call this week. He sneakily attained the telephone and hit redial. Apparently Z had no idea what was going on, so G talked to his Gma B for quite some time. At least she found it entertaining. He carries the phone around all the time and just chatters away. Of course, he makes no sense, but it's hilarious.

G has a new word. "uh-oh". He likes to drag it out with a long pause in the middle. He says uh-oh alllllll the time now. Everything he drops, eats, hits or even kisses is followed by an 'uh-oh'. I can't say anything because I'm pretty sure he got that from me.

G is also into wearing his crabby flip flops with everything. He has even, on occasion, fallen asleep with them on. He makes me put them on him when it is time for 'nite-nite'. I would say no, but when your night relies solely on making 2 babies happy, you have the tendency to let a few things slide. I will say that his feet really stink after I remove them when he has fallen asleep. Don't even get me started on the constant wearing of the green baseball cap. So cute!

L has become quite the chatty kathy when she nurses now. She nurses for a minute and then pulls away, looks at me, waves (by opening and closing her sweet little hand) and then proceeds to tell me the longest story she can think of. Granted, of course these are not words. But I can tell that she really thinks she's saying something. She goes on and on and on until she decides that she needs another drink. It's like nursing a chimp with ADD except I don't have to pick fleas and such out of her hair.

G learned how to play football at the babysitter's house the other day. To him, football is squatting in the ready position and then falling over on whoever is near him. He looooooooves it. But it is unfortunate that he tries to play football with his 6 month old sister. The other night he made me tie a receiving blanket on his head so he could play football. You can call it his "Fiddler on the Roof" helmet. He then proceeded to get in the ready position and roll all over his sister. I tried and tried and tried to get him to stop, but he just thought it was hysterical. Now you would think that L would not be so happy about that, but she was laughing too. She is so fascinated by her brother that it amazes me. I think that I was able to get him to be a little more gentle, but there was no way I could stop him from doing it. I just had to make sure I was paying attention and supervising. I'm happy to report there were no injuries.

L is still trying to crawl. She managed to get her knees up underneath her the other day and has been working very hard at crawling ever since. She can now officially scoot backwards. haha.

G officially knows how to throw a fit to watch cartoons. I knew it was only a matter of time before this would start, but he has now figured it out. We were watching Noggin the other day and G ran over and got his stuffed Lenny doll and brought it to me. He then went over and got the remote. He was pointing at Lenny and pointing the remote at the tv and whining. I said, 'do you want to watch the Wonder Pets?'. At which point he started jumping up and down and cheering. He was so proud that he got his message across, and I silently died inside knowing that I am now doomed to watching cartoons for years and years and years.

Z worked last Sunday, so it was 2 on 1...but I managed to survive. They slept the usual amount of time. L was up about 7ish and G woke up around 8. We started the morning off with a breakfast picnic in my bed and the big screen on Noggin. We munched on dry cereal and milk. Okay, okay, I may have snuck a waffle in there for G and I to share...but don't tell his dad. G decided that he was going to wear his green hat all day. He immediately put it on after breakfast. I decided that since it was so beautiful we were going to go in the backyard and enjoy the weather while G played. I took the bumbo outside for Lucy. Than I got all G's little toy cars and brought them outside. We were all headed outside and the dogs were getting a little too excited. Tucker knocked G into the corner of the brick wall. He screamed for about a minute and then he was over it. His forehead was purple for the rest of the day. I put the dogs in the house bc we didn't need anymore incidents like that. We probably stayed out there for a good 2 hours playing with cars, blowing bubbles and swinging. G did not like L swinging in his swing, so we had a bit of a fit there. But she sure looked cute. He did find amusement in pushing her, although there were a few times he forgot to get out of the way after he pushed the swing and, well, let's just say he probably sustained a few *minor* injuries.

Last week marked the first official meal of G in his new booster seat and L in the high chair. My babies are growing up so fast, it's astounding. To mark the momentous occasion, I accidentally smashed G's fingers while pushing in his chair. oops. He cried a very sad real cry for 2 whole minutes. It broke my heart. But when he was finally all better, he kept trying to reenact the injury so that I would keep kissing his fingers. That kid cracks me up.
