I went to get LB ready to feed her and I came back to G sitting on the
couch with the boppy trying to feed one of my old Cabbage Patch dolls.
Hahaha!

This is a combination of his love for shoes and his love of socks gone
awry.

G plugging his ears while Boyz 2 Men sing at the state fair.

I take that back. Sleeping she does...

What's New With LB?

What is not new with that little one? It amazes me how different your children can be from each other. She is so active and distractable. She belly crawls all over the living room and is already into everything. I give it a few more days before she is successfully crawling on her knees. I can stand her up by the coffee table and she can hold on and hold herself up. G was completely the opposite. He was merely a lump of flesh until he was almost 7 months old. That was when he started rolling over, and by rolling over I mean he rolled over...like once. He didn't crawl until he was 9 months old...almost 10 months.

So here I am with my new little one who turned 7 months old today, scooting around the living room. She is active, hardly sleeps and refuses to nurse. The only way I can get her to nurse is if G is asleep and Z and I do not talk or have the tv on. If the kitty cat comes anywhere near us, than I can forget it. She is so distractable. The other night she was waking up more than usual and I couldn't figure out why. Suddenly I had an epiphany. This was the first time I had put footie pajamas on her and she was to enthralled with the pandas on her feet to sleep. *sigh* I have to admit, if I had just discovered pandas on my feet, I might be interested in playing with them too.

I love this non sleeping rolly polly of a child. I wouldn't have picked out a different baby girl.

G sure is in for a shock when she can follow him around.

G and his first love, the adventurous Dora the Explorer.

G's First Love

Yes, that's right. The time has come for my little boy. He has his first crush and her name is Dora the Explorer. I'm really not sure how this all came about, it happened so fast. He used to love the Wonder Pets and would only watch them. Well, all of a sudden he started refusing to watch them and wanting to watch "Doda". He will actually go and get the remote, bring it to me and say "Doda". It was really cute the first couple of times, but after we ended up watching "Doda" all day on a Saturday, I figured I should probably draw the line somewhere. We have since limited his exposure to his beloved Doda. Unfortunately, it is seeking other outlets.

We went to Toys R Us because they were having a diaper sale. We came across the section where they have the little chairs for toddlers. Which one does he pick out? You guessed it. He picked out the purple Dora chair. Z was less than thrilled, so he made G choose between the Batman chair and the Dora one. It was no contest. Needless to say we have a little purple Dora chair chilling in our living room. I saw him staring at it giving it kisses the other day. That's how I knew he was in love. So sweet.

For the past couple of weeks he has been breaking into his swim trunks drawer and bringing me swim trunks. I could not figure out why he would be doing this. What was the sudden fascination with swim trunks? Finally, one day I said "what the heck" and put them on him. He left the room and came back with a swim diaper and guess who was on the swim diaper...that's right, Dora. He knew that if he could convince me to put his trunks on than the swim diaper automatically goes with it and that way he could wear Dora around. Smart little booger. I let him wear his Dora swim diaper all day over his regular diaper. I had to reward his ingenuity.

How fun are we? Last weekend we had a picnic. Yes, a picnic. I made sandwiches and packed the ice chest and some chips. We went to Mitch park and had our yummy little supper. I could tell that Z was kind of weary of the idea at first "What? No BW3's??!!?". But he snapped out of it once he saw that G was enjoying it. Supper was great and was only interrupted by 1 minor poop incident, but I still consider it a success. After we ate we took G over to play on the awesome playground. He had a blast and L was loving being carried around in her sling. I didn't realize she would like it so much. I'll definitely be using it more often.

Just a few highlights for this last week:

G placed his first phone call this week. He sneakily attained the telephone and hit redial. Apparently Z had no idea what was going on, so G talked to his Gma B for quite some time. At least she found it entertaining. He carries the phone around all the time and just chatters away. Of course, he makes no sense, but it's hilarious.

G has a new word. "uh-oh". He likes to drag it out with a long pause in the middle. He says uh-oh alllllll the time now. Everything he drops, eats, hits or even kisses is followed by an 'uh-oh'. I can't say anything because I'm pretty sure he got that from me.

G is also into wearing his crabby flip flops with everything. He has even, on occasion, fallen asleep with them on. He makes me put them on him when it is time for 'nite-nite'. I would say no, but when your night relies solely on making 2 babies happy, you have the tendency to let a few things slide. I will say that his feet really stink after I remove them when he has fallen asleep. Don't even get me started on the constant wearing of the green baseball cap. So cute!

L has become quite the chatty kathy when she nurses now. She nurses for a minute and then pulls away, looks at me, waves (by opening and closing her sweet little hand) and then proceeds to tell me the longest story she can think of. Granted, of course these are not words. But I can tell that she really thinks she's saying something. She goes on and on and on until she decides that she needs another drink. It's like nursing a chimp with ADD except I don't have to pick fleas and such out of her hair.

G learned how to play football at the babysitter's house the other day. To him, football is squatting in the ready position and then falling over on whoever is near him. He looooooooves it. But it is unfortunate that he tries to play football with his 6 month old sister. The other night he made me tie a receiving blanket on his head so he could play football. You can call it his "Fiddler on the Roof" helmet. He then proceeded to get in the ready position and roll all over his sister. I tried and tried and tried to get him to stop, but he just thought it was hysterical. Now you would think that L would not be so happy about that, but she was laughing too. She is so fascinated by her brother that it amazes me. I think that I was able to get him to be a little more gentle, but there was no way I could stop him from doing it. I just had to make sure I was paying attention and supervising. I'm happy to report there were no injuries.

L is still trying to crawl. She managed to get her knees up underneath her the other day and has been working very hard at crawling ever since. She can now officially scoot backwards. haha.

G officially knows how to throw a fit to watch cartoons. I knew it was only a matter of time before this would start, but he has now figured it out. We were watching Noggin the other day and G ran over and got his stuffed Lenny doll and brought it to me. He then went over and got the remote. He was pointing at Lenny and pointing the remote at the tv and whining. I said, 'do you want to watch the Wonder Pets?'. At which point he started jumping up and down and cheering. He was so proud that he got his message across, and I silently died inside knowing that I am now doomed to watching cartoons for years and years and years.

Z worked last Sunday, so it was 2 on 1...but I managed to survive. They slept the usual amount of time. L was up about 7ish and G woke up around 8. We started the morning off with a breakfast picnic in my bed and the big screen on Noggin. We munched on dry cereal and milk. Okay, okay, I may have snuck a waffle in there for G and I to share...but don't tell his dad. G decided that he was going to wear his green hat all day. He immediately put it on after breakfast. I decided that since it was so beautiful we were going to go in the backyard and enjoy the weather while G played. I took the bumbo outside for Lucy. Than I got all G's little toy cars and brought them outside. We were all headed outside and the dogs were getting a little too excited. Tucker knocked G into the corner of the brick wall. He screamed for about a minute and then he was over it. His forehead was purple for the rest of the day. I put the dogs in the house bc we didn't need anymore incidents like that. We probably stayed out there for a good 2 hours playing with cars, blowing bubbles and swinging. G did not like L swinging in his swing, so we had a bit of a fit there. But she sure looked cute. He did find amusement in pushing her, although there were a few times he forgot to get out of the way after he pushed the swing and, well, let's just say he probably sustained a few *minor* injuries.

Last week marked the first official meal of G in his new booster seat and L in the high chair. My babies are growing up so fast, it's astounding. To mark the momentous occasion, I accidentally smashed G's fingers while pushing in his chair. oops. He cried a very sad real cry for 2 whole minutes. It broke my heart. But when he was finally all better, he kept trying to reenact the injury so that I would keep kissing his fingers. That kid cracks me up.

I almost let him leave the house like this. It was tempting...but it
was breezy outside...

I think he likes his sister's receiving blanket like that because that's how his dad wears his towel around. Now a real towel would drag on the floor, but not an infant's receiving blanket. Genius!! The pink just adds that little something extra. I'm sure L was *praying* I would let him outside in that.

I almost did...instead I took a picture and posted it on the internet for the world to see!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA! Hello teenage dating years!!
