Muffins' First Baseball Game

This past weekend we took the little muffins to their first baseball game EVER! We went to the OU vs. Missouri game. I'm sad to say that the Sooners lost. They dominated the whole game, but in one crappy play the shortstop tripped over second base trying to catch a pop up on 2 outs. Needless to say, they scored 2 runs on that one. Ouch. But other than that it was a blast!

We were a little hesitant to go at first. I mean, what toddler do you know that is going to sit down and watch a baseball game? I don't know any. And now I know that my son is DEFINITELY not one of those kiddos. But it all started off really well. We got an awesome parking spot right across the street from the stadium. I put L in the baby carrier and she loved it. She just cuddled up and started snoozing away! When we got inside we found perfect seats for us on the field level. And then of course we had to get some snacks. Hot dogs and drinks, not to mention Z haaaaaaad to get a pretzel. I won't mention how expensive ballpark food is. But it ain't cheap!

L pretty much slept the whole time in my lap like a little angel. G....not so much. He was a little tornado as usual. Surprisingly he sat for a while. It was a lot easier with Grandma and Grandpa B there to help. We met one of Z's friends from high school there with his family. 2 year old twin boys and a 7 week old girl. And we thought we had it hard!

We each took turns running around with G when he got tired of sitting. We would run allllll the way out to the outfield seats and then he would attempt the stairs. I can't even count how many times I had to say 'NO'. I'm sure people were starting to think that was his name. A daredevil is he. When we were running back to our seats, I got the bright idea that I would take a little pit stop since the bathroom was on the way. Oh man, this didn't turn out to be quite as easy as I thought. We went into the handicap stall, for obvious sizing reasons, and the mayhem commenced. He wanted to touch the floor, and then the toilet, and then the little sanitary napkin trash can, and then the door, and then the toilet again. People outside must have thought I was losing it. I have MAJOR issues with public restrooms, and the thought of my son touching anything or even breathing in there gives me the heebie jeebies. So here I am trying to pee and jumping up every 5 seconds to chase him around the handicap stall. I think next time we will probably go in the smallest stall I can find. Either that or I will have to hog tie him.

It turned out to be an awesome day and the weather was beautiful. The kids were great and it was really nice to get out of the house and spend some time together. I guess we'll be doing that more now that no good tv shows are on. I kid, I kid.

  1. I too have a fear of public restrooms. I always carry baby wipes (which aren't disentecting and therefore actually worthless) when I take BigM in there and try to wipe everything down, which I know is pointless but it makes me feel slightly better. I should get paid for that, right? I certainly don't clean my bathroom as much as I clean Target's.

Sounds like you guys had fun.

I am so excited, I am the first to follow your blog. I was the one who got to click "Be the first." Yes, today is a great day!
